Fiber versus weave

Silk is a fiber. Satin is a weave that can be made from polyester, silk or other fibers. A product described as silky or silk-like is not necessarily silk.

Choose for care and comfort

Polyester satin may suit someone prioritizing simple care, depending on the label. Silk often needs more careful laundering. Compare the washing instructions with what you are willing to do every week.

Size and closure matter

Measure your pillow. An envelope closure and a zipper offer different fits. Check seams, zipper placement and whether the pack includes one or two cases.

Keep claims in perspective

A smooth surface feels different from a textured one, but it is not a guaranteed treatment for wrinkles, hair loss or skin conditions. Choose for comfort rather than an anti-aging promise.

Compare like with like

Compare material percentage, dimensions, quantity and care requirements. Do not use review counts as proof that a product will meet your needs.
